Det \u00e4r faktiskt ingen l\u00e5ng historia, misstankar om gas- och stoftmoln i Vintergatan m\u00e5 ha funnits sen 1800-talsastronomen, Jesuitpatern <strong>Angelo Secchis<\/strong> tid men det var f\u00f6rst in p\u00e5 1900-talet som det b\u00f6rjade bli substans i observationerna. Den gamla teorin att det svarta var en sorts vakuum eller stj\u00e4rnbefriade h\u00e5l i Vintergatan kullkastades definitivt.<\/p>\n<p>Och historien tog ocks\u00e5 ett par turer om Sverige, eftersom <strong>Carl Schal\u00e9n<\/strong> &#8211; v\u00e5r lundaprofessor efter <strong>Knut Lundmark<\/strong> &#8211; p\u00e5 30-talet gav sig i kast med att ber\u00e4kna hur stora dessa interstell\u00e4ra partiklar kunde vara. <em>\u00dcber probleme der interstellaren Absorption; Untersuchungen \u00fcber Dunkelnebel<\/em> utkom 1936.<\/p>\n<p>Att det var viktigt att fastst\u00e4lla molnens beskaffenhet bevisas av hur mycket stj\u00e4rnljuset avtar &#8211; r\u00e4knar man inte med extinktionen placeras stj\u00e4rnorna l\u00e4ngre bort \u00e4n de i verkligheten \u00e4r.<\/p>\n<p>Ett par (det finns m\u00e5nga) viktiga milstolpar f\u00f6rutom d\u00e5 Schal\u00e9ns bidrag:<\/p>\n<p><strong>* 1904 uppt\u00e4ckte\u00a0 tysken Johannes Hartmann<\/strong> att kalciumets tunna, v\u00e4ldfinierade absorberande K-linje i spektrumet i det bin\u00e4ra systemet Delta Orionis var\u00a0 station\u00e4r och allts\u00e5 inte deltog i stj\u00e4rnornas rotation som orsakade \u00f6vriga linjers periodiska f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>* Drygt 20 \u00e5r senare noterade Otto Struve<\/strong> p\u00e5 Yerkes-observatoriet att denna station\u00e4ra linje blev starkare ju l\u00e4ngre bort en bin\u00e4r stj\u00e4rna l\u00e5g &#8211; ett bevis p\u00e5 dess anknytning till den interstell\u00e4ra materien.<\/p>\n<p><strong>* Schweizf\u00f6dde\u00a0 Robert J Tr\u00fcmpler jobbade p\u00e5 <\/strong>Lick-observatoret med \u00f6ppna stj\u00e4rnhopar typ Plejaderna och studerade ocks\u00e5 fenomenet. Hoparna var mer r\u00f6df\u00e4rgade ju l\u00e4ngre bort de befann sig. Varf\u00f6r? \u00c4ven <strong>Vesto M Sliphers<\/strong> studie 1912 av Plejaderna och uppt\u00e4ckten av reflektionsnebulositeten pekade p\u00e5 f\u00f6rekomsten av tunn interstell\u00e4r materia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>* Fotografier av Max Wolf och E E Bsrnard<\/strong> av m\u00f6rka str\u00e5k l\u00e4ngs Vintergatsplanet bidrog f\u00f6rst\u00e5s ocks\u00e5 till den inomastronomiska diskussionen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>* 1925 hade\u00a0 Knut Lundmark och P J Melotte<\/strong> hittat 1550 &#8220;kols\u00e4ckar&#8221; p\u00e5 himlavalvet &#8211; n\u00e4stan tv\u00e5 procent av himlavalvets visuella yta upptogs av nebulosorna. Deras katalog h\u00f6ll sig fram till Palomar Sky Atlas-nebulosakatalogen p\u00e5 60-talets b\u00f6rjan.<\/p>\n<p>Och det allra, allra senaste kommer allts\u00e5 fr\u00e5n Harvard-astronomerna och diskuterar helt nya saker: infrar\u00f6da, kalla\u00a0 &#8220;svarta moln&#8221; mot en fond av inte fullt s\u00e5 kalla men fortfarande infrar\u00f6da moln.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/darkcloudsin.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20058\" src=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/darkcloudsin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/darkcloudsin.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/darkcloudsin-300x228.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bilden ovan kommer fr\u00e5n NASA\/Spitzer och den gr\u00f6na pricken \u00e4r en stj\u00e4rna i vardande.<\/p>\n<p>De svarta molnen best\u00e5r bl a av NH3, ammoniak.<\/p>\n<p>Det radiobrus fr\u00e5n stj\u00e4rnor som studerats i Harvard-rapporten visar p\u00e5 en absolut temp i molnen p\u00e5 m\u00f6jligen tio gr Kelvin (- 263 gr C), vilket\u00a0 inte \u00e4r l\u00e5gt, det \u00e4r en EXTREMT L\u00c5G TEMP. Misstanken \u00e4r att molnen inte kollapsar liksom av sig sj\u00e4lv, under sin egen tyngd, till stj\u00e4rnor utan f\u00e5r hj\u00e4lp av str\u00e5ltrycket fr\u00e5n omgivande &#8220;varmare&#8221; moln i Vintergatan.<\/p>\n<p>Hittills har studerats sex ex av dessa objekt kallade IRDC (&#8220;Infrared dark clouds&#8221;).<\/p>\n<h2>M\u00e4rklig bild av Saturnus m\u00e5nkvintett<\/h2>\n<p>N\u00e4r jag s\u00e5g <a href=\"http:\/\/photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov\/catalog\/PIA14573\">NASA\/JPL:s s\u00e5 kallade &#8220;photojournal&#8221; med denna bild fr\u00e5n Cassini-sonden<\/a>, blev jag l\u00e4tt f\u00f6rv\u00e5nad: Bilden p\u00e5stods visa FEM Saturnus-m\u00e5nar, och det \u00e4r h\u00e4r ocks\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>L\u00e4ngst t v ligger Janus (179 km tv\u00e4rs\u00f6ver), Pandora (81 km) snurrar mellan A-ringen och den tunna F-ringen, Enceladus (504 km) syns allra \u00f6verst, Saturnus andra st\u00f6rsta m\u00e5ne Rhea (1528 km) \u00e4r den halva blaffan t h och bakom Rhea ser vi Mimas (396 km).<\/p>\n<p>I hastigheten tolkade jag Rhea som Saturnus sj\u00e4lvt, men s\u00e5 \u00e4r det inte. Till Rhea 1,1 miljoner km &#8211; till Enceladus 1,8 miljoner\u00a0 km.<\/p>\n<h2>Garradd vs Herkules<\/h2>\n<div id=\"msgBodyDiv\" class=\"msgBodyTxt\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;\">\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">&#8211; Helt nytagen bild p\u00e5 Garradd\u00b4s komet (C\/2009 P1.) Den befinner sig just nu i konstellationen Herkules. Lika popul\u00e4r som ISS \u00e4r som fotoobjekt, lika sv\u00e5rf\u00e5ngad \u00e4r tydligen HST, Hubble Space Telescope.
