{"id":21405,"date":"2011-10-04T08:50:41","date_gmt":"2011-10-04T07:50:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/?p=21405"},"modified":"2011-10-04T08:53:05","modified_gmt":"2011-10-04T07:53:05","slug":"nr-248-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/2011\/10\/04\/nr-248-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"Nr 248 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>ALMA har \u00f6ppnat \u00f6gonen!<\/h2>\n<p>Redan den f\u00f6rsta publicerade bilden fr\u00e5n ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter\/submillimeter Array), sammanst\u00e4lld av 12 samverkande teleskop mest som ett\u00a0 prov,\u00a0 visar vad detta superteleskop f\u00f6rm\u00e5r prestera n\u00e4r det \u00e4r komplett utbyggt:<\/p>\n<p><strong>* De s\u00e5 kallade Antenngalaxerna NGC 4038 och\u00a0 NGC 4039<\/strong> \u00e4r ett par kolliderande galaxer som har dramatiskt f\u00f6rvr\u00e4ngda former. H\u00e4r finns en rik reservoar av material f\u00f6r bildandet av framtida stj\u00e4rngenerationer: den totala m\u00e4ngden gas uppg\u00e5r till en miljard g\u00e5nger solens massa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>* Observationer som dessa \u00f6ppnar ett nytt f\u00f6nster <\/strong>mot universum i submillimeterv\u00e5gl\u00e4ngder och kommer att vara n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndiga f\u00f6r att vi ska kunna f\u00f6rst\u00e5 hur galaxkollisioner kan f\u00e5 stj\u00e4rnor att b\u00f6rja f\u00f6das.<\/p>\n<p><strong>* Det h\u00e4r \u00e4r bara ett exempel p\u00e5 hur ALMA<\/strong> kommer att avsl\u00f6ja delar av universum som inte kan ses med teleskop som observerar i synligt och infrar\u00f6tt ljus.<\/p>\n<p>Teleskopsamlingen som nu v\u00e4xer fram p\u00e5 Chajnantor-plat\u00e5n i norra Chile, p\u00e5 en h\u00f6jd av 5000 meter, utg\u00f6r ungef\u00e4r en tredjedel av de totalt 66 radioantenner som kommer utg\u00f6ra det f\u00e4rdiga ALMA.\u00a0 Avst\u00e5nden mellan antennerna i denna mindre uppst\u00e4llning \u00e4r bara 125 meter som mest, att j\u00e4mf\u00f6ra med de 16 kilometer som kommer vara m\u00f6jligt f\u00f6r det f\u00e4rdiga teleskopet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tim de Zeeuw<\/strong> \u00e4r generaldirekt\u00f6r f\u00f6r ESO, den europeiska partnern i ALMA.<br \/>\n\u2013 Trots att ALMA \u00e4r i ett tidigt skede i bygget \u00f6vertr\u00e4ffar det redan alla andra submillimeteranl\u00e4ggningar. Att vi kunnat n\u00e5 denna milstolpe \u00e4r en hyllning till de anstr\u00e4ngningar gjorts av m\u00e5nga forskare och ingenj\u00f6rer i ALMA:s partnerskapsomr\u00e5den runt om i v\u00e4rlden. Det \u00e4r de som gjort det m\u00f6jligt, s\u00e4ger han.<br \/>\nALMA:s v\u00e5gl\u00e4ngder \u00e4r ungef\u00e4r tusen g\u00e5nger l\u00e4ngre \u00e4n hos synligt ljus. Genom att anv\u00e4nda de l\u00e4ngre v\u00e5gl\u00e4ngderna kan astronomer studera extremt kalla objekt i rymden \u2013 till exempel de t\u00e4tpackade moln av kosmiskt stoft och gas ur vilka stj\u00e4rnor och planeter bildas \u2013 och mycket avl\u00e4gsna objekt i det tidiga universum.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e5gra svenska projekt har valts ut f\u00f6r ALMA:s Early Science-observationer. Ett av dem leds av<strong> Susanne Aalto <\/strong>vid Chalmers Tekniska H\u00f6gskola.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Vi studerar gigantiska vindar som bl\u00e5ser rent i galaxers inre. S\u00e5dana vindar reglerar b\u00e5de stj\u00e4rnbildning och hur svarta h\u00e5l v\u00e4xer. Med ALMA:s k\u00e4nslighet och sk\u00e4rpa kan vi kartl\u00e4gga unika egenskaper hos dessa kosmiska bl\u00e5sh\u00e5l och f\u00f6rst\u00e5 hur de skapas och utvecklas, s\u00e4ger hon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Susanne-Aalto_220x1801.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21419\" title=\"Susanne Aalto tris i radioteleskopens spindelv\u00e4v. NGC 1377 verkar ha en vind av gas och stoft som \u00e4r ovanligt kall.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Vi misst\u00e4nker att den ovanliga vinden drivs av ett svart h\u00e5l i full f\u00e4rd med att v\u00e4xa sig st\u00f6rre. Med ALMA kan vi unders\u00f6ka vinden samtidigt som vi kan sk\u00e5da in i det m\u00f6rka stoftinb\u00e4ddade hj\u00e4rtat av NGC 1377 med hittills o\u00f6vertr\u00e4ffad detaljrikedom.
