Foto: Ylva Hagman<\/em>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tS&aring; h&auml;r ber&auml;ttar Thomas om sitt astronomiintresse och dess b&ouml;rjan:\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;\"><span style=\"color:#B22222;\">&quot;<\/span><br \/>\n\tIntresset&nbsp;har&nbsp;funnits&nbsp;sedan&nbsp;jag&nbsp;fick&nbsp;en&nbsp;bok&nbsp;om&nbsp;astronomi&nbsp;av&nbsp;min&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tskoll&auml;rare&nbsp;n&auml;r&nbsp;jag&nbsp;var&nbsp;9&nbsp;&aring;r.&nbsp;I&nbsp;ton&aring;ren&nbsp;hade&nbsp;jag&nbsp;en&nbsp;enkel&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tHobbex-refraktor.&nbsp;Kommer&nbsp;ih&aring;g&nbsp;hur&nbsp;sp&auml;nnade&nbsp;det&nbsp;var&nbsp;att&nbsp;f&ouml;rsta&nbsp;g&aring;ngen&nbsp;f&aring;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tsyn&nbsp;p&aring;&nbsp;Saturnus&nbsp;ringar.&nbsp;Dock&nbsp;blev&nbsp;jag&nbsp;aldrig&nbsp;helt&nbsp;v&auml;n&nbsp;med&nbsp;teleskopet&nbsp;och&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tsedan&nbsp;kom&nbsp;studier&nbsp;och&nbsp;arbete&nbsp;emellan.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;\">2007&nbsp;var&nbsp;det&nbsp;en&nbsp;ny&nbsp;bok,&nbsp;<em>Big&nbsp;Bang<\/em>&nbsp;av&nbsp;<strong>Simon&nbsp;Singh<\/strong>&nbsp;som&nbsp;v&auml;ckte&nbsp;intresset&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tigen.&nbsp;Sen&nbsp;hittade&nbsp;jag&nbsp;det&nbsp;nu&nbsp;nedlagda&nbsp;n&auml;tforumet&nbsp;Astronomiguiden&nbsp;som&nbsp;var&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tavg&ouml;rande&nbsp;f&ouml;r&nbsp;att&nbsp;ta&nbsp;upp&nbsp;astronomin&nbsp;mer&nbsp;seri&ouml;st&nbsp;igen.&nbsp;Jag&nbsp;ville&nbsp;ha&nbsp;ett&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tmer&nbsp;l&auml;ttanv&auml;nt&nbsp;instrument&nbsp;denna&nbsp;g&aring;ng&nbsp;och&nbsp;k&ouml;pte&nbsp;en&nbsp;20&#215;80&nbsp;kikare&nbsp;f&ouml;r&nbsp;att&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tk&auml;nna&nbsp;p&aring;&nbsp;hur&nbsp;det&nbsp;var&nbsp;att&nbsp;hitta&nbsp;runt&nbsp;p&aring;&nbsp;himmeln&nbsp;och&nbsp;vad&nbsp;som&nbsp;gick&nbsp;att&nbsp;se.&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tJag&nbsp;fastnade&nbsp;f&ouml;r&nbsp;enkelheten&nbsp;med&nbsp;kikare&nbsp;och&nbsp;har&nbsp;nu&nbsp;en&nbsp;25&#215;100.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;\">I b&ouml;rjan var&nbsp;det&nbsp;mest&nbsp;Messier-&nbsp;och&nbsp;andra&nbsp;deep&nbsp;sky-objekt&nbsp;jag&nbsp;observerade.&nbsp;Sen&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tfick&nbsp;jag&nbsp;kontakt&nbsp;med&nbsp;<strong>Hans-G&ouml;ran&nbsp;Lindberg<\/strong>&nbsp;och<strong>&nbsp;Hans&nbsp;Bengtsson<\/strong>&nbsp;som&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tintroducerade&nbsp;mig&nbsp;f&ouml;r&nbsp;variabla&nbsp;stj&auml;rnor.&nbsp;Till&nbsp;skillnad&nbsp;fr&aring;n&nbsp;de&nbsp;statiska&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tDSO&nbsp;h&auml;nder&nbsp;det&nbsp;hela&nbsp;tiden&nbsp;saker&nbsp;runt&nbsp;variablerna&nbsp;vilket&nbsp;g&ouml;r&nbsp;dem&nbsp;mer&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tintressanta.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;\">2009&nbsp;beh&ouml;vde&nbsp;SAAF&nbsp;en&nbsp;databas&nbsp;d&auml;r&nbsp;man&nbsp;kunde&nbsp;rapportera&nbsp;in&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tvariableobservationer.&nbsp;Jag&nbsp;&aring;tog&nbsp;mig&nbsp;att&nbsp;konstruera&nbsp;den&nbsp;och&nbsp;driver&nbsp;sedan&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tdess&nbsp;SVO-databasen&nbsp;p&aring;&nbsp;astronet.se.&nbsp;De&nbsp;50&nbsp;bortgl&ouml;mda&nbsp;mirorna&nbsp;&auml;r&nbsp;lite&nbsp;f&ouml;r&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tsvaga&nbsp;att&nbsp;se&nbsp;med&nbsp;min&nbsp;kikare&nbsp;s&aring;&nbsp;f&ouml;r&nbsp;dem&nbsp;har&nbsp;jag&nbsp;anv&auml;nt&nbsp;fj&auml;rrstyrda&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tteleskop&nbsp;p&aring;&nbsp;Teneriffa&nbsp;och&nbsp;New&nbsp;Mexico&nbsp;f&ouml;r&nbsp;att&nbsp;ta&nbsp;bilder&nbsp;av&nbsp;stj&auml;rnorna&nbsp;och&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tm&auml;ta&nbsp;deras&nbsp;ljusstyrka.&nbsp;Tillsammans&nbsp;med&nbsp;de&nbsp;andra&nbsp;i&nbsp;projektet&nbsp;har&nbsp;alla&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tv&aring;ra&nbsp;observationer&nbsp;lagts&nbsp;in&nbsp;i&nbsp;databasen.&nbsp;SVO&nbsp;har&nbsp;underl&auml;ttat&nbsp;analysen&nbsp;av&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tobservationerna&nbsp;och&nbsp;jag&nbsp;hoppas&nbsp;gjort&nbsp;det&nbsp;roligare&nbsp;och&nbsp;intressantare&nbsp;att&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tobservera&nbsp;variabler.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#B22222;\">&quot;<\/span><br \/>\n<\/h3>\n<p>\n\t2013 fick Thomas, som bor och &quot;v&auml;rkar&quot; i Varberg, av SAAF-v&auml;nnerna det fina <strong>Margareta Westlund<\/strong>-priset&nbsp; &quot;f&ouml;r fotometriska observationer av epsilon Aurigae under f&ouml;rm&ouml;rkelsen 2009-2011, f&ouml;r utvecklingen av den svenska variabeldatabasen SVO och f&ouml;r analyser av Miravariablers periodicitet&quot;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tStudien av f&ouml;rm&ouml;rkelsevariabeln epsilon Aurigae utg&ouml;r en internationellt enast&aring;ende prestation och funktionaliteten i SVO &auml;r i m&aring;nga avseenden b&auml;ttre &auml;n motsvarigheten i den internationella organisationen AAVSO.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOch aprop&aring; de l&aring;ngperiodiska mirorna, <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/1610.01141v1.pdf\">h&auml;r &auml;r den senaste utforskningen<\/a> av grund&auml;mnet titanium i stoftet omkring typstj&auml;rnan Mira\/Omikron Ceti. Proffsen kan ocks&aring;.\n<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t<strong>Lundmark i LUM<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n\tJag f&ouml;rst&aring;r av redakt&ouml;rerna p&aring;<em> LUM, Lunds Universitets Magasin<\/em>, att n&aring;got &auml;r p&aring; g&aring;ng om<strong> Knut Lundmark. <\/strong>Ni som har tillg&aring;ng till LUM &#8211; h&aring;ll &ouml;gonen &ouml;ppna! Rapportera g&auml;rna n&auml;r artikeln dyker upp.\n<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t<strong>Kilonovorna &auml;r h&auml;r<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n\tSedan n&aring;gra &aring;r pratar astronomer sinsemellan om en ny sorts novor: Kilonovor (alternativt &quot;macronovor&quot;) som &auml;r i snitt 1000 ggr h&auml;ftigare &auml;n en &quot;normal&quot; nova men har 1\/10-del&nbsp; till 1\/100-del av supernovors energier. Supernovorna h&aring;ller fortfarande t&auml;ten.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>* Kilonovorna finns,<\/strong> f&ouml;r det har bl a Hubble-teleskopet kunnat se 2013 i form av infrar&ouml;d eftergl&ouml;d efter gammablixtar:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/hubble-gamma-ray-burst-e1476436224182.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"hubble-gamma-ray-burst\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67683\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/hubble-gamma-ray-burst-e1476436224182.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<em>Bildk&auml;lla: ESA\/NASA\/HST<\/em>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>* Det verkligt intressanta<\/strong> &auml;r att dessa kilonovor &auml;r resultatet av kollisioner mellan kompakta, bin&auml;ra (tvillingar) neutronstj&auml;rnor, kollisioner som &auml;ger rum p&aring; br&aring;kdelar av en sekund och som d&aring; genererar st&ouml;rningar i den einsteinska rymdtiden och d&auml;rmed &#8211; gravitationsv&aring;gor!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>* Kilonovornas ljuskurvo<\/strong>r karakterisieras av betydligt snabbare avklingning &auml;n supernovornas (den utslungade massan &auml;r mindre &auml;n f&ouml;r supernovor), emissionen &auml;r svagare &auml;n supernovornas (samma argument) &#8211; och s&aring; &auml;r de r&ouml;dare.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>* &Auml;ven <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1606.04795\"><strong>svenska forskare <\/strong>&auml;r med i studiet av dessa sm&auml;llar <\/a>och jagar febrilt efter&nbsp; optiska rester efter explosioner&nbsp; som orsakar gravitationsv&aring;gor. Precis som det sas n&auml;r gravitationsv&aring;gorna ffg detekterades i vintras: Ett helt nytt &quot;f&ouml;nster&quot; har &ouml;ppnats mot universum.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>* M&ouml;jligheterna att med <\/strong>dagens LIGO\/Virgo-instrument detektera kilonovor p&aring;&nbsp; D &lt; 100 Mpc anses lovande.\n<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t<strong>Fler galaxer finns<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n\tDet observerbara universum har minst 10 ggr fler galaxer &auml;n vi hittills trott. <a href=\"http:\/\/hubblesite.org\/newscenter\/archive\/releases\/2016\/39\/\">HST:s pressrelis h&auml;r.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t<strong>Mer om Tycho Brahe<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n\tI ett s&auml;llskap uppkallat efter<strong> Tycho Brahe<\/strong>, &auml;r det klart att vi sl&aring;r vakt om v&aring;r portalfigur och nyfiket f&ouml;ljer alla nyheter p&aring; omr&aring;det. <strong>Bertil Falk<\/strong>, t ex, som h&aring;ller p&aring; med den litter&auml;rt om&ouml;jliga uppgiften att &quot;&ouml;vers&auml;tta&quot; <strong>James Joyces<\/strong> <em>Finnegans wake<\/em> till svenska, p&aring;pekar att han sprungit p&aring; Tycho Brahe i detta b&aring;ngstyriga verk.
