Man tror att den kanske uppkom av tv\u00e5 galaxer som f\u00f6r l\u00e4nge sedan kolliderat och nu \u00e4r i slutfasen av sammanslagningen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> &#8211; Stoftstr\u00e5ken som syns i ena spiralarmen \u00f6ver galaxens centrum tycks enligt en del likna ett handskelett, d\u00e4rav det engelska smeknamnet Dusty Hand Galaxy. Stj\u00e4rnnybildningen \u00e4r h\u00f6g och den klassas som en s\u00e5 kallad starburst galaxy. Att en bild av rymden \u00e4r djup betyder att den kan visa ljussvaga objekt som ligger l\u00e5ngt bort. Under den tio\u00e5riga insamlingsperioden kommer vi dessutom kunna h\u00e5lla koll p\u00e5 himlafenomen som varierar i tid, transienter som kort flammar upp och falnar igen. Det r\u00f6r sig om supernovaexplosioner, men \u00e4ven variabla stj\u00e4rnor och allt annat som kan t\u00e4nkas dyka upp. I praktiken blir det som en film \u00f6ver universum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesper p\u00e5pekar ocks\u00e5:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Det har hamrats och snickrats i tio \u00e5r i den chilenska Atacama\u00f6knen. Med en spegel p\u00e5 8,4 meter i diameter kommer det f\u00e4rdigst\u00e4llda Vera Rubin Observatory vara ett av de st\u00f6rsta teleskopen i v\u00e4rlden. De f\u00f6rsta bilderna f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas komma i \u00e5r, 2023. Men det \u00e4r inte den stora spegeln eller den v\u00e4l valda observatorieplatsen p\u00e5 2 800 meters h\u00f6jd som f\u00e5r v\u00e4rldens astronomer att tappa hakan \u2013 det \u00e4r kameran. Tre miljarder pixlar g\u00f6r den till v\u00e4rldens st\u00f6rsta kamera \u2013 den v\u00e4ger n\u00e4stan tre ton. D\u00e5 den varje minut under tio \u00e5rs tid ska fotografera en stor del av stj\u00e4rnhimlen kommer datam\u00e4ngderna r\u00e4knas i hundratals petabytes (1&nbsp;petabyte = 10<sup>15<\/sup>&nbsp;bytes). Notera globen nedan, som visar fl\u00e4ckstrukturerna i  universums kosmiska mikrov\u00e5gsbakgrund.
