Studien, som bygger p\u00e5 analys av chockstrukturer i mineralet zirkon, bekr\u00e4ftar en omtvistad teori som lades fram redan 2012.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"block block-layout-builder block-field-blocknodelu-articlebody\">\n<div class=\"text-formatted field__body field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>Sedan jorden bildades f\u00f6r 4,6 miljarder \u00e5r sedan har en stor m\u00e4ngd meteoritnedslag varit avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r v\u00e5r planets utveckling. Det st\u00f6rsta k\u00e4nda nedslaget \u00e4gde rum f\u00f6r cirka tre miljarder \u00e5r sedan. Den dramatiska himlakroppskraschen skedde p\u00e5 det som idag \u00e4r sydv\u00e4stra Gr\u00f6nland, enligt en ny studie som publiceras i den vetenskapliga tidskriften Journal of Petrology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lu.se\/sites\/www.lu.se\/files\/styles\/lu_infobox_desktop\/public\/2023-12\/Leif-Johansson-800-pixlar.jpg.webp?itok=DmgMa5g8\" alt=\"Portr\u00e4tt.\" width=\"358\" height=\"239\" data-wp-editing=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"text-formatted field__body field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>\u2013 2012 lade Adam Garde vid Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland fram teorin att Maniitsoq-strukturen \u00e4r en nedslagskrater. Han fick mothugg av forskare som menade att den formats av tektoniska r\u00f6relser i jordskorpan. Det \u00e4r ett mycket robust mineral som l\u00e4mpar sig f\u00f6r att verifiera strukturer i gamla och djupt eroderade meteoritkratrar. Under flera \u00e5r unders\u00f6kte forskarna mer \u00e4n 3 400 zirkoner fr\u00e5n fyra k\u00e4nda nedslagskratrar samt Maniitsoq-strukturen. Som j\u00e4mf\u00f6relse unders\u00f6ktes \u00e4ven zirkoner fr\u00e5n tv\u00e5 mycket gamla jordb\u00e4vnings\u00adomr\u00e5den i Norge och Italien utan koppling till meteoritnedslag. Foto: Adam Garde<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Vi gjorde unders\u00f6kningar med elektronmikroskop i b\u00e5de Lund och i K\u00f6penhamn. De mest detaljerade analyserna p\u00e5 nanometerskala gjordes med transmissionselektronmikroskop, ett slags mikroskop som byggts f\u00f6r genomg\u00e5ende elektroner, i tyska Potsdam. Ultratunna skivor av zirkonerna togs ut och elektroner skickats genom dem f\u00f6r att kunna se de extremt sm\u00e5 detaljerna i chock\u00adlamellerna, s\u00e4ger Leif Johansson.<\/p>\n<p>Eftersom m\u00e4ngder av meteoriter har slagit ned p\u00e5 jorden under dess 4,6 miljarder \u00e5r l\u00e5nga historia skulle man kunna f\u00f6rv\u00e4nta sig att hitta m\u00e5nga gamla nedslagskratrar. Men jorden \u00e4r en geologiskt aktiv och dynamisk planet som st\u00e4ndigt omdanas, n\u00e5got som bidrar till att det \u00e4r ovanligt att man hittar minnen i berggrunden av dessa tidiga h\u00e4ndelser. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r \u00e4r det viktigt f\u00f6r dagens geologer att lokalisera och verifiera gamla, idag djupt eroderade, meteoritkratrar som Maniitsoq-strukturen.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Det k\u00e4nns fantastiskt att kunna sl\u00e5 fast att det h\u00e4r r\u00f6r sig om en nedslagskrater.
