He is engaged in many efforts to help other students and also to work in the area of Science and diplomacy.&nbsp; He goes to the Arizona State Legistlature (which is rather&nbsp;anti-science and educational&nbsp;funding) to make a persuasive case for the value of science to society. Sam also will work on improving relations here on campus between the Humanities and the Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I told Sam about how ingrained science distrust was in our Department of English (and the Humanities) while I was finishing my Ph.D.&nbsp; Only somebody like Sam (or Leif) would cheerfully go to his fellow Lunar Lab grad students and try to think of how to connect to our grad students in English. Fingers crossed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So it all went well, with a nice buffet of vegetarian snacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope this helps to bridge the miles and to bring you a bit closer to all that Leif&#8217;s legacy is doing here. Tio g\u00e5nger starkare \u00e4n andra av sitt slag. Det var den gammablixt som flera rymdteleskop uppt\u00e4ckte den 9 oktober 2022, och som fick namnet BOAT (brightest of all time) av forskarna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gammablixtar \u00e4r tillf\u00e4lliga utbrott av gammastr\u00e5lning. Gammastr\u00e5lning kommer fr\u00e5n radioaktivt material men kan inte ses av det m\u00e4nskliga \u00f6gat p\u00e5 grund av dess h\u00f6ga energi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 F\u00f6r satelliter som tittar efter gammastr\u00e5lning \u00e4r det som att sitta ute p\u00e5 natten och pl\u00f6tsligt kommer en str\u00e5lkastare och lyser dig i \u00f6gonen,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dn.se\/varlden\/mysteriet-kring-det-starkaste-ljuset-som-skadats-i-rymden\/\">s\u00e4ger Jesper Sollerman, astronomiprofessor vid Stockholms universitet, till DN<\/a>, om BOAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nu, ett och ett halvt \u00e5r senare, kan&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41550-024-02237-4\"><em>Nature Astronomy<\/em>&nbsp;ber\u00e4tta<\/a>&nbsp;varifr\u00e5n gammablixten kom. De syns som mystiska ibland kr\u00f6kta sp\u00e5r \u00f6ver Hubbles &#8220;pl\u00e5tar&#8221;, om man f\u00e5r anv\u00e4nda det uttrycket.
