Innan nyheten ig\u00e5r om den &#8220;nakna&#8221; supernovan kom nyheten att astronomer fr\u00e5n Chalmers har uppt\u00e4ckt en enorm och expanderande bubbla av gas som omger en r\u00f6d superj\u00e4ttestj\u00e4rna. Bubblan \u00e4r den st\u00f6rsta strukturen i sitt slag som uppt\u00e4ckts i Vintergatan. Den inneh\u00e5ller lika mycket massa som solen, och skapades i ett stj\u00e4rnutbrott f\u00f6r cirka fyra tusen&nbsp;\u00e5r sedan. Stj\u00e4rnan \u00e4r mer eller mindre en tvilling till Betelgeuse, men den \u00e4r omgiven av en gigantisk, r\u00f6rig bubbla av material, s\u00e4ger <strong>Mark Siebert<\/strong>, astronom vid Chalmers, som lett forskarlaget.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/bba29a2a3ea8cc83_100x100ar-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"84\" height=\"100\" src=\"https:\/\/www.astb.se\/cassiopeiabloggen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/bba29a2a3ea8cc83_100x100ar-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-98010\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Bubblan \u00e4r ett moln som best\u00e5r av gas, stoft och damm. Det v\u00e4ger lika mycket som solen och str\u00e4cker sig 1,4 ljus\u00e5r ut fr\u00e5n stj\u00e4rnan, tusentals g\u00e5nger bredare \u00e4n v\u00e5rt eget solsystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om stj\u00e4rnan var lika n\u00e4ra jorden som Betelgeuse skulle bubblan t\u00e4cka ett omr\u00e5de p\u00e5 himlen lika stort som en tredjedel av fullm\u00e5nens bredd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Med hj\u00e4lp av Almas m\u00e4tningar kunde astronomerna anv\u00e4nda ljus fr\u00e5n gasens molekyler f\u00f6r att uppt\u00e4cka hur molnet r\u00f6r sig. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 vis kunde forskarna avsl\u00f6ja att hela bubblan h\u00e5ller p\u00e5 att utvidgas. Den bildades troligen f\u00f6r n\u00e5gra tusen \u00e5r sedan, d\u00e5 stj\u00e4rnan kastade ut en del av sina yttre lager i rymden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Bubblan \u00e4r gjord av material som tidigare varit en del av stj\u00e4rnan. Allt m\u00e5ste ha kastats ut i ett slags explosion som intr\u00e4ffade f\u00f6r ungef\u00e4r fyra tusen \u00e5r sedan. En m\u00f6jlighet \u00e4r att stj\u00e4rnan har en dold f\u00f6ljeslagare som hj\u00e4lpte den att kasta ut sina yttre lager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 F\u00f6r oss \u00e4r det ett mysterium hur stj\u00e4rnan lyckades slunga ut s\u00e5 mycket material p\u00e5 s\u00e5 kort tid. Kanske har den, precis som Betelgeuse verkar ha, en f\u00f6ljeslagare som \u00e4nnu inte uppt\u00e4ckts, s\u00e4ger Mark Siebert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>R\u00f6da superj\u00e4ttar som DFK 52 n\u00e4rmar sig slutet av sina liv och f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas s\u00e5 sm\u00e5ningom explodera som supernovor. Kan den h\u00e4r stj\u00e4rnan vara galaxens n\u00e4sta supernova?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Vi planerar fler observationer f\u00f6r att f\u00f6rst\u00e5 vad som h\u00e4nder \u2013 och f\u00f6r att ta reda p\u00e5 om detta skulle kunna bli Vintergatans n\u00e4sta supernova. Om detta \u00e4r en typisk r\u00f6d superj\u00e4tte kommer den att explodera n\u00e5gon g\u00e5ng under de kommande miljoner \u00e5ren, s\u00e4ger Elvire De Beck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forskningen presenteras i artikeln &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/publish.ne.cision.com\/l\/ldedqxcre\/doi.org\/10.1051\/0004-6361\/202555975\"><u>Stephenson 2 DFK 52: Discovery of an exotic red supergiant in the massive stellar cluster RSGC2<\/u><\/a>&#8220;, publicerad i tidskriften<em> Astronomy and Astrophysics.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/publish.ne.cision.com\/l\/ldedqxcre\/www.eso.org\/public\/images\/potw2531a\">Bilden i det h\u00e4r pressmeddelandet har lyfts fram som veckans bild av Europeiska sydobservatoriet, ESO.<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forskarna bakom studien \u00e4r Mark Siebert, Elvire De Beck och Wouter Vlemmings fr\u00e5n Chalmers tekniska h\u00f6gskola och Guillermo Quintana Lacaci fr\u00e5n Instituto de Fisica Fundamental i Madrid, Spanien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JWST utforskar det tidiga universum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>V\u00e4rldsledande astronomer sammanfattar de st\u00f6rsta uppt\u00e4ckterna och obesvarade fr\u00e5gest\u00e4llningar.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.su.se\/institutionen-for-astronomi\/nyheter\/jwst-utforskar-det-tidiga-universum-1.840350\" title=\"\"> I en ny artikel <\/a>fr\u00e5n <em>Nature Astronomy<\/em> presenteras den hitintills mest kompletta l\u00e4gesbeskrivningen av universums f\u00f6rsta miljarder \u00e5r, baserad p\u00e5 observationer fr\u00e5n rymdteleskopet James Webb (JWST). Kartl\u00e4ggningen av vad JWST har uppt\u00e4ckt gjordes av en internationell grupp best\u00e5ende av v\u00e4rldsledande astronomer, d\u00e4ribland <strong>Angela Adamo <\/strong>vid Stockholms universitet.
