K\u00e4llan till utbrottet \u00e4r bel\u00e4gen utanf\u00f6r v\u00e5r galax och dess position har best\u00e4mts med Europeiska sydobservatoriets Very Large Telescope (VLT). Gammalixtar (GRB) \u00e4r de kraftfullaste explosionerna i universum och orsakas normalt av kolliderande stj\u00e4rnor eller svarta h\u00e5l. Men inget k\u00e4nt scenario kan helt f\u00f6rklara denna nya GRB, vars sanna natur f\u00f6rblir ett mysterium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Denna GRB \u00e4r &#8220;olik alla andra som setts under 50 \u00e5r av GRB-observationer&#8221; menar <strong>Antonio Martin-Carrill<\/strong>o, astronom vid University College Dublin, Irland, och medf\u00f6rfattare till den studie som nyligen publicerades i <em>The Astrophysical Journal Letters<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"nv-iframe-embed\"><iframe title=\"Time-lapse of the gamma-ray burst GRB 250702B\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u0odXgFxXQY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>GRB:er \u00e4r de energirikaste explosionerna i universum. De orsakas av katastrofala h\u00e4ndelser som n\u00e4r massiva stj\u00e4rnor d\u00f6r i kraftfulla explosioner eller slits s\u00f6nder av svarta h\u00e5l. Blixtarna varar vanligtvis i n\u00e5gra millisekunder till minuter, men denna k\u00e4lla \u2013 GRB 250702B <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/sweden\/news\/eso2514\/?nolang#1\">[1]<\/a> \u2013 varade i ungef\u00e4r ett dygn. &#8220;Detta \u00e4r 100\u20131000 g\u00e5nger l\u00e4ngre \u00e4n de flesta GRB:er&#8221; s\u00e4ger <strong>Andrew Levan,<\/strong> astronom vid Radbouduniversitetet i Nederl\u00e4nderna och medf\u00f6rfattare till studien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;\u00c4nnu mer signifikant \u00e4r att normala gammablixtar aldrig upprepas eftersom h\u00e4ndelsen som producerar dem \u00e4r katastrofal&#8221;, s\u00e4ger <strong>Martin-Carrillo<\/strong>. Den f\u00f6rsta varningen om denna GRB kom den 2 juli fr\u00e5n NASA:s gammateleskop Fermi som uppt\u00e4ckte inte mindre \u00e4n tre skurar fr\u00e5n denna k\u00e4lla under loppet av n\u00e5gra timmar. I efterhand uppt\u00e4cktes det ocks\u00e5 att k\u00e4llan hade varit aktiv n\u00e4stan ett dygn tidigare och observerats av Einstein Probe, ett rymdbaserat r\u00f6ntgenteleskop tillh\u00f6rande den kinesiska vetenskapsakademin i samarbete med Europeiska rymdorganisationen (ESA) och Max Planck-institutet f\u00f6r extraterrest fysik. En s\u00e5 l\u00e5ngvarig och repetitiv gammablixt har aldrig setts f\u00f6rut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dessa observationer gav bara en ungef\u00e4rlig position f\u00f6r gammablixten, som var bel\u00e4gen i Vintergatans stj\u00e4rnrika plan. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r anv\u00e4nde forskargruppen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/teles-instr\/paranal-observatory\/vlt\/\">ESO:s VLT<\/a> f\u00f6r att lokalisera den faktiska k\u00e4llan inom det ungef\u00e4rliga omr\u00e5det. &#8220;Innan dessa observationer var den allm\u00e4nna uppfattningen att just denna gammablixt m\u00e5ste ha uppst\u00e5tt i v\u00e5r egen galax. VLT f\u00f6r\u00e4ndrade fundamentalt denna teori&#8221;, s\u00e4ger Levan, som ocks\u00e5 \u00e4r knuten till University of Warwick, Storbritannien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Med hj\u00e4lp av VLT:s HAWK-I-kamera fann de bevis f\u00f6r att k\u00e4llan faktiskt kunde vara bel\u00e4gen i en annan galax. Detta bekr\u00e4ftades senare av NASA\/ESA:s Hubbleteleskop. &#8220;Det vi fann var betydligt mer sp\u00e4nnande: det faktum att detta objekt \u00e4r extragalaktiskt betyder att det \u00e4r betydligt mer energirikt&#8221;, s\u00e4ger Martin-Carrillo. V\u00e4rdgalaxens storlek och ljusstyrka tyder p\u00e5 att gammablixten kan ha uppst\u00e5tt flera miljarder ljus\u00e5r bort, men mer data beh\u00f6vs f\u00f6r att precisera detta avst\u00e5nd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vilken process som gav upphov till denna gammablixt \u00e4r fortfarande ok\u00e4nd. Ett m\u00f6jligt scenario \u00e4r att en massiv stj\u00e4rna kollapsade och d\u00e5 frigjorde enorma m\u00e4ngder energi. \u201dOm det r\u00f6r sig om en massiv stj\u00e4rna \u00e4r det en typ av kollaps som vi aldrig tidigare har sett\u201d, s\u00e4ger Levan, eftersom gammablixten i s\u00e5 fall skulle ha varat i endast n\u00e5gra sekunder. Alternativt skulle en stj\u00e4rna som slits is\u00e4r av ett svart h\u00e5l kunna producera en dygnsl\u00e5ng gammablixt, men f\u00f6r att f\u00f6rklara andra egenskaper hos explosionen skulle det kr\u00e4vas att en ovanlig stj\u00e4rna f\u00f6rst\u00f6rs av ett \u00e4nnu mer ovanligt svart h\u00e5l <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/sweden\/news\/eso2514\/?nolang#2\">[2]<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r att l\u00e4ra sig mer om denna gammablixt har forskargruppen \u00f6vervakat efterdyningarna av explosionen med olika teleskop och instrument, inklusive VLT:s X-shooter-spektrograf och James Webb-teleskopet, ett gemensamt projekt mellan NASA, ESA och Canadian Space Agency.
